Overview

Responsible for building an analytical framework for entry into new markets (states, utility geography and rate structures in order to drive focus) that identifies and models the revenue/cost drivers for market opportunities; advises and guides sales and management in opening new markets and closing sales; identifies new markets, business cases or customer types that lead to the development of new/improved products. Partner with finance to build and manage financial models for various markets and customers.

 

**Location Note - This position location is flexible and can be located in the New York City area, California area or Washington State area.

Responsibilities

  • Develop market analysis framework for management, sales, and business development teams for clear decision making and increased sales
  • Through market analysis framework provide advice/guidance to the sales team and management to support the opening of new markets and closing sales leads
  • Enhance the overall corporate strategy through an analytical framework for new markets and for comparing project opportunities across markets
  • Research and summarize market drivers and value streams (i.e., demand response, frequency regulation) that can be distilled into an actionable recommendation for entering a market
  • In conjunction with finance, builds and manages financial models used as the basis for sales and financial decision making and approval
  • Identify new markets, business cases or customer types that lead to the development of new/improved products
  • Work with Technology to ensure proper modeling of the benefits and risk reduction of the Optimization Engine accurately portrays our technology differentiation in terms of superior business cases and project returns
  • Work with sales support, inside sales, and sales analyst functions to enhance the sales process, customer proposal generation and ongoing sales funnel management and forecasting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of the broader energy ecosystem, utility rate structures and market drivers
  • Deep expertise in modeling project level financials for renewable energy, energy efficiency to accurately portray risk adjusted returns
  • Experience with modeling PPA’s, Shared Savings or other hybrid project financing structures.
  • Experience working with some of the leading 3rd party finance firms in the broader renewables market
  • Proven strategic and financial instincts
  • Strong commercial acumen, with outstanding business judgement and proven ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and effectively multi-task daily and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Assertive, confident and clear communicator both orally and written
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Skilled at cultivating and building new relationships
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree, MBA preferred
  • 8-10 years work experience in C&I renewable energy, renewable investing, renewable consulting or energy/sustainability solutions sales.
  • Proven leader as evidenced through results and former colleague references
  • A proven record of developing analytical frameworks that can be used as the basis for corporate decision making
  • Self-motivated, independent problem solver and creative thinker with exceptional follow through and the highest levels of integrity and trust across all customer interactions.
  • Extensive experience and proven results in financing and sale of renewable energy projects
  • A solid understanding of renewable energy and other project centric development processes, project qualification and 3rd party financing structures is a must.
  • Some travel may required
