The Sr. Network Design Manager designs, deploys, and manages complex projects related to Enel Green Power North America’s (EGPNA) telecommunications and digital network infrastructure across the US including four (4) Office Locations and ninety (90) Renewable Generation Plants.  In addition, the Sr. Network Design Manager is responsible for design, operation, and maintenance in accordance with EGP Security Policy and NERC-CIP v5 compliance of all critical network infrastructure which facilitates SCADA activities and other backbone related services in a TCP/IP environment ensuring the Cybersecurity aspects are always at required level. The position supervises a Network Engineer.


This role will work collaboratively with EGPNA Business Development and Engineering & Construction teams to provide in-house voice, data, video and wireless network services related to plant commissioning. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Sr. Network Design Manager will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.


  • Designs and deploys LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, firewalls, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.
  • Design, implement and support secure networking solutions for critical cyber assets across power generation facilities (remote plant and control room) that support NERC-CIP compliance and the overall security objectives of EGPNA.
  • Designs, operates and maintains all critical network infrastructure supporting SCADA activities and other backbone related services.
  • Monitors network performance and troubleshoots problem areas as needed.
  • Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Develops, implements and maintains policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
  • Oversees new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Participates in managing all network security solutions.
  • Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Provide technical leadership, governance and oversight for the design of information technology systems, projects and changes within the EGPNA networking environment.
  • Educate others on the EGPNA ICT security architecture discipline, supporting processes, concepts, and best practice implementation.


  • This person must be capable of troubleshooting and analyzing network and communication problems in an industrial control system technical environment.
  • Wide knowledge of cybersecurity vulnerabilities exploits and attacks as well as mitigation measures.
  • Familiar with industrial protocols for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) such as DNP3, ICCP, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101 and IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61400-25, IEC 62351 and Modbus.
  • Support proposal writing, formulate project plans to satisfy customer needs, and estimate level of effort.
  • Good attitude and ability to work in a multinational company environment.

  • Capacity to work in an organized and planned manner even if within fast pace environment.
  • Understand complex, advanced generation facility drawings, schematics and engineering documents related to the commissioning of renewable energy plants across the United States.
  • Support the design in producing deliverables such as contract drawings and documents, design calculations and analysis reports.
  • Prepare and/or supervise engineering reports, studies, and calculations.
  • Research suitable solutions where telecommunications or network availability is limited.
  • Travel 60% CY2017. 

Knowledge of:

  • Cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST SP 800-82 and NERC CIP standards is required.
  • ISO 27002, IEC62443 standards as well as ITILv3 Framework.
  • USA Energy Market.
