  • Overview

    This position will work in and around power plants installing, testing, and troubleshooting medium voltage (13.8kV and below) equipment including but not limited to: station service electrical equipment such as motors, motor controls, switchgear, transformers, voltage regulators, electrical protective devices, main and auxiliary generators, lighting power supplies, electrical cranes, and battery support systems.


    • Installs, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and overhauls medium voltage power plant generation and auxiliary electrical equipment.
    • Gains technical information from electrical schematics, vendors information, and codes
    • Performs current, voltage and power calculations as necessary
    • Works with the Power Plant I&C equipment to calibrate plant related instrumentation and use test equipment associated with the power plant.
    • Initiates reports and records associated with the electrical systems of the plant.
    • Documents all work, and reports as necessary
    • Works with SAP PM in the development of Notifications, Work Orders and enters pertinent information into the notifications and time into the Work Orders.
    • In SAP PM creates reservations for the use of inventory stock as a part of the management of a work order
    • Support regional Maintenance activities as needed
    • Coordinates with plant Operations and Maintenance staff to coordinate electrical Maintenance activities
    • Interfaces with Control Room Manager on Plant Operations and Maintenance
    • Interfaces with Logistics Specialists in support of any procurement actions as required to support the region
    • Evaluates equipment failures to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Provides support in the budgeting process as well as for the Health Status Forms for the region assigned


    • Associates degree or equivalent
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with at least 7 of related experience
    • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as, DMM, meggers and multi process calibration equipment
    • Strong knowledge in electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques
    • Operational power plant experience is a plus.
    • Willingness to work overtime when required.
    • Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft office suite.
    • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
    • Must be able to travel as needed up to 80%.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. This could include, working in extreme heat or extreme cold conditions.
    • The noise level in the environment is usually loud and requires the use of PPE.
