Overview

Sr. Origination Manager will be responsible for assisting the department efforts of commercial power structuring and origination for the organization. Individual is expected to work across all departments within the organization as needed, and to be highly motivated, capable, and willing, to support the organization in providing value to the shareholder, the financial stakeholders and to our customers across a wide spectrum of assigned US markets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the sourcing, structuring, and negotiating of complex sales transactions, ideally long term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with utilities and C/I customers.
  • Analyze PPAs and other power related contracts in collaboration with internal stakeholders from functions across the organization.
  • Optimize relationships with procurement, trading and origination desks at utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, C&I off-takers, and marketers.
  • Streamline deal structures to support the project financing arrangements and incorporate lessons learned from previous deals/operating projects.
  • RFP & Proposal Development - Identify RFP opportunities and originate bilateral PPA targets outside formal RFP processes.
  • Define and maintain the pricing and valuation of project revenue models.
  • Participate in and support local and global corporate initiatives

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 10+ years of experience in roles that provide exposure to long term contractual arrangements for renewable energy
  • Expert skills with MS excel and highly skilled with other MS office products
  • Some knowledge of power markets, customers and segments in North America
  • Understanding of and/or ability to address concepts including: basis risk, power markets, hedging, losses, and congestion across markets
  • Experience with excel and financial modeling for renewable energy projects and power purchase agreement contract management
  • Prior experience pricing, structuring and analyzing physical and financial PPAs; Knowledge of market drivers including curtailment practice implications, market participants, supply and demand drivers of renewables, customer practices.  
  • Experience with PPA transactions in power markets, customers, and deal structure types
  • Knowledge of and experience in over-the-counter forward markets, physical markets, and/or futures markets
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Experienced and effective team member
  • Up to 40% domestic travel
