  • Overview

    The primary function of the Lead Real-Time Trader is to optimize the real-time position of Enel’s power portfolio across different ISOs. In addition the Lead Real-Time Trader will assist with the build out, staffing and managing of Enel’s real-time desk. The desk’s main focus is operating, scheduling, managing, tracking and balancing all physical/financial schedules within Enel's power portfolio.


    • Directly responsible for updating intraday, plus supporting DA, RTO market submittals for unit offers and parameters based on resource operations and market conditions
    • Optimizes generation related power supply contracts in the RTO market
    • Develops and maintains strong relationships, through continuous interaction, with system operators, counterparts, and power marketing personnel
    • Develops a thorough understanding of RTO market protocols
    • Responsible for NERC tagging functions and procuring transmission
    • Develop trade ideas independently and in conjunction with the trading team
    • Conducts intra-day energy transactions with wholesale customers, RTO’s, and other suppliers
    • Reconcile energy accounting as necessary
    • Inputs transactions into deal capture system
    • Assists Management in developing and maintaining proper policies and procedures for participation in RTO markets and contract administration


    • 7+ years of work experience in the power trading industry with specific responsibilities and direct involvement with: real time trading and operations
    • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
    • In depth understanding of electric power system operations and power portfolio management (including demand, generation and congestion management tools)
    • Familiarity with ancillary services markets
    • Knowledge of ISO market protocols and business practices
    • Skilled with applications such as Excel, bidding and tagging applications
    • Ability to work independently and in diverse teams
    • Experience working with YES Energy and DayZer preferred

    • In-depth market knowledge with US power markets (experience in one of the following markets: ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM, NYISO, ISONE, CAISO)
    • Proven multi-tasking skills
    • Prior experience in a trading environment
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a group
    • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
    • Demonstrates creativity, and independent thought when solving problems
    • Good understanding of business processes and data management
    • Builds positive relationships with internal and external groups
    • Will require full knowledge of functional responsibilities of all groups/individuals within the organization
