    eMotorWerks is an Enel Group company and a unit within the newly created division Enel X.



    As Senior Manager, Market Development & Policy, you will monitor, engage and advocate for sensible, innovative policy and market design in the areas of electric vehicles, EV infrastructure, distributed energy resources (DER), demand response and environmental markets. Through your efforts, eMotorWerks will increase its policy profile through participation in industry associations and direct engagement with policymakers.


    • Advocate successfully inside and outside regulatory proceedings for EV and DER policies in multiple jurisdictions to encourage deployment and utilization of smart electric vehicle infrastructure.
    • Connect and coordinate with regulatory professionals across the Enel Group of companies, including Enel X, EnerNOC and Enel Green Power.
    • Manage outside regulatory and legislative consultants to scope and produce cost-effective, desired policy outcomes
    • Represent eMotorWerks in DER and EV-related industry associations; report internally, propose eMotorWerks response and implement optimal positions on key policy matters identified by associations.
    • Contribute to commercial roadmap for hardware and energy services by delivering actionable insight into utility, state and ISO policy / market structures.
    • Familiarize with and identify differences between eMotorWerks’ competition from a commercial and policy perspective.
    • Manage day-to-day activities for eMotorWerks North America policy engagements; Approximately 50% California and 50% rest of U.S. / Canada.
    • Identify and prioritize critical U.S. and Canadian markets for policy participation and market development, in tandem with and in advance of commercial business development.

    Required Skills & Experience

    • 3-5 years experience in policy, market development, technical business development or government
    • Experience relate to electricity trading or distributed energy resources, such as distributed solar, demand response, stationary storage are highly applicable
    • Understanding of wholesale electricity markets, demand response, and utility business models
    • Top-notch writing and verbal skills, with evidence from policy proceedings
    • Takes initiative, work autonomously and quickly, navigate ambiguity and uncertainty, and excel in a startup environment
    • BS or higher degree in engineering, public policy, economics or related subjects
    • Passion for electric vehicles and how they can improve the world
    • Outstanding communications and project management skills
    • Able to travel up 25%

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience and relationships in regulatory and legislative venues in Midwest and East Coast
    • Specific experience in electric vehicle policy
    • Experience working in both a startup and large, mature organization
    • Personally or has family member who owns an electric vehicle
    • Able to routinely office out of San Carlos headquarters
