  • Overview

Enel Green Power North America is a leading owner and operator of renewable energy plants in North America with projects operating and under development across the US and Canada. At Enel, we have a fast paced work environment and talented employees who crave learning new skills and aren't afraid to tackle big projects. As an intern, you will get the opportunity to work with a variety of our staff while contributing to real projects that will help grow and foster our core values of proactivity, trust, responsibility and innovation.

This intern will work with the Hydro Operations and Maintenance- Maintenance Planner in mapping functional locations and in developing an interactive tool.
EGPNA uses functional locations (FL) to define and characterize various aspects of our hydropower facilities. The FL is basically an alphanumeric code that is used to standardize and define references to equipment and structures. This project will involve reviewing functional locations for 1 or more power plants, identifying errors in our existing system, labeling the functional locations on appropriate drawings, and developing an interactive tool for field and office personnel to use. The purpose of this project is to improve communication amongst people doing work for the plant and to improve consistency amongst people and through time. In addition, with the development of the desired tool, it should make the accurate development of “notifications” and “work orders” easier for field personnel. This project is vital to our continued improvement and consistency.

The FL project will require and continue to develop the following skills:

    • Critical thinking
    • Programming in Excel
    • Organization
    • Reading technical drawings
    • Verbal communication and presentation

    Functional Location Mapping:
The purpose of this project is to review and organize the Functional locations (FL, or codes for parts) of our Hydro Power Plants. We will review current list in SAP PM, identify needed changes, and identify FL on plant maps and drawings to improve consistency and communication. We would like to develop a tool that provides hyperlinks from drawings to appropriate transactions in SAP for field personnel to use.
    Plan of Checks/Detailed Planning Development:
The purpose of this project is to align our maintenance plans with those of Central and to determine exceptions based on equipment condition. We will characterize the required work to be done, organize it into appropriate job lists, identify required labor, materials, and services, and schedule the work in SAP PM.

The Intern’s role will be to support the above-described projects through:
    - Obtaining information regarding actual and erroneous equipment
    - Identifying and/or summarizing needed changes
    - Labeling drawings and maps with FLs
    - Working with drawings and maps in Excel or other software to develop hyperlinking tool
    - Gathering data for maintenance execution
    - Organizing data for maintenance planning
    - Assisting with maintenance planning

These projects will provide learning opportunities for hydropower plant equipment and set-up, how hydropower plants work, project management, and will utilize/develop skills in Excel and SAP PM.

Potential degree paths include: engineering, math, sciences, business, project or construction management, and other analytical fields.

    Ideal skill sets include:
    - Attention to detail

    - Excel
    - Organization
