  • Overview

    This position is primarily responsible for researching and modeling supply and demand fundamentals in order to manage Enel’s congestion portfolio in ISO markets. The FTR trader will perform and develop analyses to identify short and long term congestion risks and opportunities in collaboration with the energy trading team. The candidate must have business knowledge covering both the theoretical and practical implications of power flow analysis, market modeling and forecasting.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform market simulations using power flow programs and market modeling platforms
    • Research and modeling of electricity markets (e.g. supply and demand) and congestion fundamentals for short and long-term assessments
    • Develop trade ideas independently and in conjunction with the team
    • Perform quantitative analyses related to ISO energy markets
    • Analyze the commercial impact of generation and/or transmission projects and outages

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Programming, Computer Science, or related technical fields
    • In-depth market knowledge of US power markets (experience in one of the following markets: ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM, NYISO, ISONE, CAISO)
    • 2+ years related industry experience
    • Prior experience in a trading environment
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a group
    • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
    • Demonstrates creativity, and independent thought when solving problems
    • Builds positive relationships with internal and external groups
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in a related field
    • 3+ of work experience in the energy trading industry with involvement with FTR’s and congestion hedging
    • Large data analytics, including power flow systems and/or production cost modeling programs
    • Skilled with applications such as Excel, SQL, Matlab, Visual Basic, C#, R, Python or other similar programming languages
    • Experience working with YES Energy and DayZer preferred
