  • Overview

    As a SCADA Engineer I you will be assigned technical tasks of maintenance and projects on SCADA systems for renewable generation plants. 

    Supervised by a Senior SCADA Engineer and working within the Industrial Control System (ICS) team, your role will be to maintain the fleet of SCADA and Control systems at EGPNA generation plants through various tasks such as planned maintenance, troubleshooting, incident management, change requests, take part to the definition of evolution plan and projects, major system upgrades, cyber security projects, etc. 

    Tasks will be mostly driven by the business needs from the Operations. You will work in collaboration with the IT Generation team supporting the system infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    • Work on incidents and change management requests in close coordination with the EGPNA ICS Service Desk to ensure system availability and reliability. Tasks include advanced troubleshooting, coordination with contractors and software suppliers experts, root cause analysis, etc. Intervention can be on site or remotely.
    • Perform detailed problem analysis on critical incidents to prevent reoccurring issues and improve resolution time.
    • Perform advanced configuration/programming for process control systems operation and maintenance, make changes to existing programs, configure tools, review and approve programming by integrators and functional operation of all process control systems, and participate in factory/site acceptance testing.
    • Take part to system improvements and new projects: develop scope of work, review design and proposal with suppliers, selection of suppliers, implementation, testing, commissioning, transition to Control Room Operators.
    • Work in close coordination with the IT Generation support team managing the supporting ICS infrastructure (networking, hardware, OS, cyber security, patching, etc.).
    • Provide technical support to the Engineering & Construction team (E&C) to integrate new plants under construction. Key tasks are: drafting scope of work, review design and proposal with suppliers, selection of suppliers, implementation, commissioning, handover to O&M team.
    • Define and improve internal procedures to manage the systems maintenance within the company guidelines and compliance framework.
    • Work with the Operation team to address the business needs and provide appropriate technical solutions.
    • Provide 24/7 on-call support as second level of escalation for critical incidents.
    • Comply and support enforcement of compliance program (EGPNA standard procedures, NERC CIP (706) and NERC (693) Reliability standards, etc.).

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.
    • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
    • Experience in integration/maintenance of small scale SCADA systems, automation, PLC for the power/utility industry (Allen Bradly/Factory Talk, GE Cimplicity, SEL RTACs, Kepware, etc.).
    • Knowledge of power plant and electrical systems maintenance and operations will be highly regarded.
    • Knowledge of Wind Turbine SCADA (GE, VESTAS, GAMESA, etc.) and renewable energy systems will be highly regarded.
    • Rigorous approach to problem solving, troubleshooting, documentation, compliance aspects.
    • Team work oriented but also capable to work in autonomy.
    • Advanced proficiency in industrial communications: Modbus, IEC104, DNP3, OPC, OSI PI, etc.
    • Advanced proficiency in IT communications and systems: SFTP, SSH, Database administration, SQL, data mining, MS Windows server, Linux, etc.
    • Advanced networking skills, Proficient with network analysis and packet analysis tools (e.g wireshark, etc.)
    • Programming skills: C, C++, Java, database APIs, etc.
    • Ability to be on call and work off hours as needed.
    • Ability to produce and review technical (e.g. troubleshooting guide, incident report) and non-technical documentation (e.g. contractual documents).
    • Proficient in: Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, use of Excel Macro, PowerPoint.
    • Driver’s License.
    • Travelling up to 60% of the time (mostly domestic, occasionally international).
