  • Overview

    Within the Engineering and Construction function, the Risk Manager Specialist manages all the project risk events related to renewable power plants during both the development and the execution phases. He/ She interacts on daily basis with the Project/Support Team members (e.g. Project Manager, Planner, Cost Engineer, Contract Manager, Site Manager, Project Engineer, Project Developer) providing an effective control of the risk exposure of the project.

    Responsibilities

    • For the projects during both the development and the execution phases:
      • Lead and facilitate the Risk Assessment with all Risk Owners in order to individuate all the risk/opportunity events that can have impacts in terms of extra time and/or extra-cost, ensuring the quality of all risk data;
      • Prepare and periodically update the Project Risk Register, reporting the actual impacts of the occurred events;
      • Determine, together with the different Risk Owners, the appropriate risk response per each of the risk events identified;
      • Prepare and periodically update the Project Plan Risk Response, registering the actual effectiveness of the risk responses implemented;
      • Model and simulate the impacts on project targets (time & costs) of all the risk/opportunity individuated, using the numerical Project Risk Analysis tool;
      • Calculate time and cost reserves in order to guarantee the achievement of project targets respecting the risk threshold defined, and quantify the residual risk uncovered on the project;
      • Support the Project Team in drafting the main contracts of Supplies and Works, specifically for Contractual Schedule, Payment Milestones, penalties / liquidated damages set-up;
      • Re-assess periodically all the project risks with the Risk Owners, isolating the risks not individuated during the development phase;
      • Update and Control with the Risk Owners the progress of risk responses and their associated actions;
      • Update and Control Project Risk Exposure, analyzing any deviation from the baseline or adverse actual trend, and identify corrective/preventive/improving actions in order to avoid/mitigate possible time/cost overruns;
      • Predict possible future risk events correlating events/trends occurred in other projects in analogous contests, using the numerical Project Risks Analysis tool;
      • Analyze, together with the Project Planner and the Cost Engineer, the potential impact of the risk events on project economical/physical progress curves;
      • Prepare project risk reports in accordance with company procedures/ standards and tools for Project Team and Management review, clearly indicating critical points and risk exposure delta analysis;
    • At country portfolio level, monitor the risk exposure of the yearly target achievement (additional capacity and capex expenditure), proposing mitigation/optimization actions to guarantee them;
    • Coaching and Mentoring Project/Support Team members and other stakeholders on aspects of risk management process;
    • Cooperate with the central unit in updating and improving risk calculation methodologies and models, in order to ensure standardization, practice sharing and digitalization for a predictive data driven approach;        

    Qualifications

    • Master Degree in Engineering/Economics/Mathematics/Statistics;
    • Previous experience in power plants and/ or large infrastructural projects strongly desirable (experience in renewable energy projects a plus);
    • Any industry-recognized international certification related with Project Management and/or Risk Management, is a plus;
    • 5-7 years of experience in activity of management of Engineering & Construction Projects and/or Risk Management.

    Skills and Key Comptenencies

     

    • Project Cost Management, Planning and Risk Management as per the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
    • Advanced knowledge of Office Package (Excel, Access, Power Point, Word). Knowledge of VbA, SaS, PBI & Dax and/or Matlab, cosidered a plus;
    • Knowledge of Statistics Risk Analysis, Risk Calculation methodologies and Risk Management tools
    • Knowledge of project planning and its tools (MS Project, Primavera Scheduling, STR Vision) is highly advantageous;
    • Knowledge of cost management and its tools is a plus;
    • Advanced written/ spoken English (Spanish and/or Italian is a plus)
    • Proactivity and effective verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders;
