  • Overview

    This position will involve work at multiple solar PV and Geothermal power plants maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting AC and DC circuits ranging from medium voltage (13.8kV and below) to mV systems.  The equipment that will need to be maintained includes but is not limited to: station service electrical equipment such as motors, and motor controls, electrical switchgear, transformers, inverters, solar PV panels, panel racking, electrical protective devices, main and auxiliary generators, lighting, power supplies, HVAC systems, security and battery support systems.  This position will be responsible for troubleshooting and overhauling such equipment as well as preventative and predictive maintenance activities for the afore mentioned equipment. 



    • Testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and replacing power plant related electrical equipment as well as the instrumentation and control systems.
    • Gaining technical information from electrical schematics, vendor information, co-worker expertise, and applicable codes.
    • Perform current and voltage readings as necessary as well as specialized data gathering for reactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance.
    • Working with the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate and safely perform plant related maintenance.
    • Initiate reports and generate maintenance records associated with the electrical and control systems for the plants.
    • Strict adherence to all EGPNA policies and procedures.
    • Documenting all aspects of daily work and generating reports as necessary.
    • Coordination of maintenance activities with other technicians under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor.
    • Ability to operate safely and efficiently, either independently or in a group, to maximize power generation and equipment availability.
    • Regional travel ability is required.
    • Cross-craft training (Electrical/Mechanical/Operations)

    • Travel to Nevada and Utah sites to perform preventative, reactive, and predictive maintenance activities as directed

    • Have after-hours availability be dispatched to sites requiring immediate attention.

    • Must be able to work as a contributing member of a team as well as independently

    • Daily documentation and allocation of worked time and consumed inventory parts

    • Research parts and availability from vendors and obtain quotes as needed

    • Forklift, Manlift and Scissor Lift operation

    • Performs other duties as directed by the Electrical Supervisor, Regional Manager, or Director.


    • Associates degree or equivalent or
    • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience
    • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
    • Strong attention to detail and project ownership
    • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as, DMM, meggers and multi process calibration equipment
    • Strong functional knowledge in electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques – analytic reasoning is a plus
    • Operational power plant experience is a plus.
    • Willingness to work overtime when requested or required.
    • Must be a competent user Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Products
    • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required
    • Must be able to travel as needed - Sometimes on short notice and up to 2 weeks in duration.
    • Must have a valid state driver’s license
