    The candidate will collaborate to the engineering activities of new battery energy storage projects in front of the meter to be developed by Enel across US ensuring that technical issues are resolved and projects objectives are met. The candidate shall be experienced in the energy and electricity sector and shall ensure also engineering assistance during construction and commissioning phase.

    Responsibilities

    This position performs the following essential functions:

    • Collaboration with business development unit to translate commercial and functional requirements into detailed design
    • Support to permitting phase
    • Definition of the basic design of the battery energy storage plant
    • Preparation of layout drawings, single line diagrams, technical specifications for procurement, tender evaluation, sizing reports, electrical calculations
    • Perform the engineering activities needed for any RFPs related to service, supply and works (preparation of technical package to be provided to Procurement unit within organization including bids ranking) related to battery storage plants.
    • Evaluation of technical tender for plant equipment (batteries, inverters, transformers, etc.)
    • Estimate, with the support of the other disciplines/units within the Organization, the costs related to the construction of battery energy storage plants
    • Support to business development unit in preparation of technical part of the business case for any new opportunity to be submitted to the Project’s Sponsor (Organization Investment Committee)
    • Manage, with the support of other units within the Organization, the contracts related to supply of main equipment (batteries, inverters, transformers, cables, storage management system, balance of plant, etc.) after order assignment
    • Manage, with the support of other units within the Organization, the engineering service contracts
    • Support the other units within the Organization for assuring the quality of the supplies and works of the battery storage plants (completeness and correctness of the Quality Control Plans prepared by the Suppliers, assessment and management of all the non-conformities related to engineering issues, etc.)
    • Prepare project status report for communicating with teams members and other project stakeholders, whether they are internal or external to the organization
    • Support the project engineering for assessing all the Design Changes occurred during the project life cycle
    • Develop, create and update on a regular basis the design guidelines to be used for any RFPs to be issued by the Organization
    • Ensure the completeness and the correctness of all technical documentation to be provided to any external stakeholder (TSO/ISO, DSO, third party engineering company, local authorities, etc.)
    • Support to construction and commissioning units during plant construction and start up
    • Implement the lessons learned continuously in the projects, sharing the best practices and knowledge with the other units of the Organization
    • Support the project engineering and other units of Organization for completing the Hand Over of the Project to the Operation and Maintenance Function of the Organization or external Client (punch list, as-built drawings, etc.)

    Qualifications

     

    • Ability to work within a Global Framework
    • Ability to work within a Matrix Organization
    • Ability in working within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
    • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent subjects
    • MS degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred
    • At least 7 years’ experience in design of HV, MV and LV electrical systems
    • Solid background in distribution and transmission system regulations and design.
    • Firm knowledge of different standards like ANSI, IEEE, NEC, UL, NFPA
    • Thorough understanding of the battery and energy management control systems as well as a good understanding of different battery types and chemistries
    • Ability to manage contracts with suppliers
    • Knowledge of overall design and construction of BESS plants
    • Knowledge of grid connection process
    • Basic economics general knowledge
    • Knowledge of H&S laws and regulations
    • Contract Management Skills
    • Good understanding of budgets and design for cost solutions
    • Effective verbal and written communication
    • Innovation and Sustainable thinking
    • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
    • Ability to create working team environment and to build trust with all the stakeholders
    • Ability to work in autonomy for complex tasks and in multiple projects under pressure
    • Professional Engineer certification will be considered a plus.
    • Fluent English is required, Spanish and/or Italian is considered a plus
    • Must be available for domestic and international travel for meetings and for on-site support
