  • Overview

    This position is responsible for mechanical activities during project implementation construction projects; will monitor project progression and keep each venture on schedule and in compliance with codes, within time, cost, quality, safety and environmental to contribute to the efficiency of projects in the execution phase.

     

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities, include, but not limited to:

    • Working knowledge of Wind Plant construction (Erection methods) and Steel Erection of main frame structures within a substation/interconnection stations.                                        15%

     

    • Overall coordination of construction documents from internal and external sources with consistency to sizing and development procedures established for each project.                                   5%

     

    • Possess an understanding of High Voltage systems and Electrical design work in accordance within NERC, NEC, IEEE NFPA and NESC standards to assure design and budget compliance.                5%

     

    • Process Mechanical Engineering and Design documents including High Voltage Equipment shop drawing reviews, and specification reviews, including a working knowledge of Federal Specifications.          2%

     

    • Develop, prepare and control submittals for technical construction specifications, schematic drawings, layouts and blueprints.                                                                                             2%

     

    • Insure design documents are in accordance with the appropriate client requirements and criteria, and that appropriate documentation is applied to all transactions.                                       2%

     

    • Review and reconcile Quality Control (QC) documents and field data to insure design standards are being met.                                                                                                                 5%

     

    • Observe and report findings of daily site mechanical activities from subcontractors; raise Field Observation Reports for deficiencies when required.                                                            38%

    • Create reports to monitor, and track civil activities relating to project schedule through daily and weekly plans, logs and reports.                                                                                          10%

    • Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommends necessary changes.                                                                                                     5%

     

    • Provide input and track all Component erection activities; assist in all Motor Control Center (MCC) walk downs.                                                                                                                 6%

     

    • Attend all POD meetings and Safety meetings throughout the project.                    5%

    Qualifications

    • In depth knowledge of industrial construction practices, power plant engineering, plant operation requirements, and environmental and safety requirements.
    • Proficiency in monitoring contractors’ performance in the areas safety, quality, environmental conformance, and schedule.
    • Review all drawings and notify the Construction Manager of any problems regarding constructability and design deficiencies
    • Raise RFIs for unclear design, unspecified materials, discrepancy in the design etc.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project.
    • Effective verbal and written communication
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Adept organizational skills with attention to detail to compile and track project documentation.
    • Ability to climb a ladder up a 80 meter wind turbine

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent of supervising large utility scale power generation construction projects.
    • 10+ years’ major utility or major industrial construction in the mechanical field.
    • Ability and willingness to travel up to 100% of time including temporary assignment to projects.
    • Valid Driver’s License.
    • Ability to be mobile and move to various project site locations for extended periods of time.
