  • Overview

    This position will be responsible for monitoring, developing and implementing North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Standard policies and practices. The NERC Compliance Analyst assists the Director, NERC Compliance in the coordination of activities primarily related to the reliability (693) suite of NERC standards and the compliance program including the management of reporting self-certifications and data submittals, document and evidence management and analysis of new and upcoming standards. This position will also be responsible for consulting with all divisions across Enel to provide guidance on the correct NERC procedures and responses to compliance concerns.


    • Assist the Director of NERC Compliance with implementing a premier culture and record of compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of NERC standards and procedures.
    • Comprehensive knowledge and exhibited ability to work with NERC and liaise with regulators in a professional manner.
    • Manage the collection and organization of evidence to support required NERC portal submissions such as; annual self-certifications, misoperations, vegetation management and GADS data reporting. Monitor and oversee reporting and data submittal requirements to ensure that the responses required to support compliance are submitted within the required deadlines.
    • Manage the collection and organization of evidence to support Enel’s quarterly internal self-audits (quarterly internal spot checks). Assemble reports for evidence and data analysis review.
    • Assist in quarterly standards review to identify any updates in the NERC standards that apply to Enel and help ensure that they are reflected in the NERC Standards Update Report and the quarterly Standards Compliance Bulletin.
    • Monitor and track NERC required maintenance activities such as the vegetation inspections and protection system maintenance. Coordinate with department stakeholders to facilitate the completion of these activities within the NERC required deadlines.
    • Manage the storage and organization of documentation and evidence required to demonstrate compliance and ensure that the retention of all documentation meets regulatory requirements.
    • Facilitate the communication of NERC Compliance requirements across the different departments of Enel. Working with Subject Matter Experts to identify and resolve problems and provide support for developing a pro-compliance environment throughout all divisions.  Assist all divisions with compliance challenges in order to avoid possible violations and financial liability.
    • Assist in the development and revisions of procedures, policies, protocols or operating guidelines to maintain compliance. Assist in reviews and revisions to improve reliability and reduce costs.
    • Assist in preparing stakeholders for audits by regulatory authorities. Assist with responses to requests for information (RFI) by regulatory authorities. Work in cooperation with the departments across Enel to resolve difficult and controversial technical problems for the reliability compliance program.
    • Represent Enel at federal, state and regional reliability workshops. Travel for regular participation in Regional Entity compliance workshops.


    • Bachelor’s degree in related field is required.
    • Minimum 1-2 years of utility/energy industry experience, auditing, compliance, regulatory or related experience.
    • Experience with NERC is strongly preferred.
    • Working knowledge of generation and transmission systems.
    • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Sharepoint software.
    • Must be able to work in a constantly changing environment and capable of managing multiple projects and tasks and ensuring their timely completion.
    • Excellent oral presentation skills; ability to prepare effective presentations for delivery.
    • Excellent organization and administration skills.
    • Ability to work off deadlines and meet them. Ability to handle complex assignments, be a self-starter, be able to meet goals and deadlines on own initiative with minimum supervision.
    • Ability to deal effectively with regulators, auditors, and stakeholders.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to work effectively with a variety of Subject Matter Experts across different departments within Enel.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to effectively state and justify Enel’s positions before regulatory agencies and organizations.
